After qualifiying as a doctor, Ms Rahman underwent specialist ophthalmology training in Oxford and the south west of England. She is a specialist in diseases of the retina and has completed a two year fellowship in Vitreo-retinal surgery at the Oxford Eye Hospital.

In Sept 2002, she was appointed as a consultant at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust. Since then she has set up a state of the art Vitreo-retinal service from scratch, providing cover to Halifax, Huddersfield and the surrounding areas.

She has served as lead clinician and audit lead in the past and currently is the educational supervisor to all ophthalmic trainees in the department. In recognition of her services in the NHS, over and above her normal duties, she has been awarded six clinical excellence awards by Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust.

Managerial Roles in the NHS

Ms Rahman has served as audit lead for five years followed by clinical lead for the ophthalmology department in Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust. Presently she is educational supervisor to four trainees on the Yorkshire Deanery Program. She is also the lead clinician for Vitreo-retinal firm in the department.
